You have been employed as a team of change management consultants by a
residential care home provider which supports people living with a learning
disability, autism, mental health needs and sensory impairment.
Following a recent inspection, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) placed the
service under ‘special measures’ and rated the service as ‘inadequate’. Concerns
raised by the CQC included:
1. Systems were not robust to ensure people were supported safely with
their medicines.
2. The Service did not report and respond to safeguarding incidents.
3. There was a high staff turnover.
4. There was a lack of effective governance and quality assurance systems.
The senior leadership team recognise that robust monitoring systems need to be
implemented. Your team has been asked to advise the senior leadership team on
the challenges and best course of action for the successful implementation of
these systems.
Task 1: Critically evaluate and assess leadership theories that could be utilised to
help successfully deliver the planned change in the organisation.
Task 3: Evaluate cultural barriers which may arise during this change. Suggest
and evaluate strategies that the management may use to overcome any
challenges.
