You will choose a topic that is relevant to the course and write a 3-5 page paper
connecting your topic to what you have learned in the course. You must use a minimum
of 3 academic references; DO NOT include encyclopedias or textbooks. Paper must be
styled in APA format. Do not include opinion unless notified by instructor. Must use in-
text citation giving credit to your sources throughout your paper.
Sociology Research Topic Ideas (only suggestions)
1. Race, Nationality and Ethnicity
2. Mass Media
3. Youth cultures and subcultures (hip hop, punk, extreme sports, mean girls, cliques
and outcasts, etc.)
4. Gender and Sexuality in different cultures
5. Cults, Clans and Communities
6. Feral Children
7. Class conflict and inequalities
8. Racial segregation in cities
9. How women and men are presented in the media10.
10. Rights movements (civil, feminist, animal, political)
This paper should be 3-5 pages in length. It will be due on the date specified in class. A late penalty of 10% per day will be applied if it is not submitted on time. You are welcome to work with me and/or the writing center if you would like to go over your paper before final submission. We will discuss potential topics in class, and I would happy to work with any of you to choose and focus your topic.
