Develop an original rights-based advocacy paper that addresses a pertinent issue related to children’s rights in professional work with children and youth. Locate the issue and explore how the issue is important in professional work with children and youth. How should children’s rights influence understanding, advocacy and action related to the issue? This paper will allow you to demonstrate what you have learned this semester and explicitly discuss the following question: What are the ways in which the Child and Youth Care field (or other discipline that you represent in this course e.g. Early Childhood, Criminology etc.) could uphold these rights? What difference does children’s rights make when considering this issue and respecting children and youth? Your paper must not exceed 6 double-spaced pages and not be less than 5 pages (excluding title page and reference list). You must include a total of 10 different references including: a minimum of 8 different assigned course readings, and also draw from the 2 additional academic research articles/books and/or non-scholarly resources (e.g. government, policy or NGO reports). The paper should be written using APA writing style, citation, and referencing format. Your essay should reflect standard essay format: an introduction, thesis statement/hypothesis, essay body, and conclusion.
