An informative speech is more specific, and thus more focused, than a personal experience speech. First, as a speaker, you must decide what will be the most effective approach for presenting your informative topic. The most common approaches are as follows:
• to present what you, the speaker, feel is new knowledge
• to correct a misunderstanding about a topic
• to demonstrate how to do something
• to clarify (make clear) information on a topic
After choosing a speech topic and then focusing the scope of your speech, you should choose one of the above approaches to present your informative speech. You will then begin the written organization of your speech.
