Social workers understand that, as a consequence of difference, a person’s life experiences may include oppression, poverty, marginalization, and alienation as well as privilege, power, and acclaim.
Create a case study of a person living with a severe persistent mental illness and associated health problems based on an actual or imagined person. Remember to exclude any identifying information if your case study based on a real person.
After describing your case, develop a multidisciplinary team to support your client as social workers recognize the implications of the larger practice context in the assessment process and value the importance of inter-professional collaboration in this process. Identify the different members of the team and explain their role in addressing the needs of your client, with the social worker as the leader of the team.
Interpret how you (as the social worker) may work with the team from various disciplines as the leader of the group. Because social workers understand that intervention is an ongoing component of the dynamic and interactive process of social work practice with, and on behalf of, diverse individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities consider what challenges you expect to encounter and how you think you can overcome them.
Be sure to examine the successful operation of your service delivery through your team. You should integrate principles of logic, scientific inquiry, and culturally informed and ethical approaches to building knowledge.
