Write an Essay on Texas Policy

The last Chapter (14) of the Texas government course is about future Texas policy. Instead of taking a quiz on this chapter – we will write about it, but you only write about one policy.

Here are the main goals: 1. pick one policy to write about from the chapter (you will use additional sources along with the textbook (Governing Texas 5th edition by Champagne, Harpham, Casellas)

Policies to choose from:

Transportation Policy in Texas
Demographic Change in Texas
Higher Education Policy in Texas
Water Policy in Texas

Chapter 14 has 4 issues to choose from. You will need at least two additional sources to use in your essay. These sources can be credible news articles, a legislator’s publication on the issues, a research organization’s comments on the issues. a Texas agency such as TXDot or state water planning authorities. If you are not sure about your additional sources then you can check with me. Read the section on your policy first. In your essay include the following: 1. the current condition of the problem; 2. who is impacted by the issue (students? farmers? small towns?); 3. what efforts have been made to address this problem?; 4. what success has there been? Or, not been? Anything working to tackle the issue?; and 5. finally, explain whether you think this issue is one that can be solved.

The questions above basically follow the process of policy formulation that we studied in chapter 12 (identifying the issue, formulating a plan to solve it, implementing the plan and then evaluating it).

YOU MUST CITE YOUR SOURCES IN THE TEXT AND AT THE END — THE BOOK AND SOURCES YOU BRING INTO THIS ESSAY. THIS ESSAY MUST FOLLOW MLA, CHICAGO OR TURABIAN STYLE, double space and be at least 550 words long. It can be longer, but hopefully not more than 1,050.

Once you have attached your essay to the assignment here, be sure to read through another and respond.

You will want to check for errors and grammar because others can read your work. BE AWARE THAT I CHECK FOR PLAGIARISM. Make sure that if you use exact wording that you use quotation marks. No submission should have more than 25 percent of the writing in quotations. So that means you need to use your own words for the vast majority of your assignment. The last Chapter (14) of the Texas government course is about future Texas policy.
