There are several ways to approach this assignment.
Basic instructions: In what ways do both books demonstrate the characteristics of domestic and adventure fiction?
Step 1: Read both One Crazy Summer and Hoot.
Step 2: Consider how both books have elements of domestic and adventure literature.
Step 3: Select 4-5 traits of domestic and adventure children’s literature, and write a paper that explains how these books best represent one or both genres.
The following questions are designed to help you organize your ideas as you prepare for this paper:
What are the traits of domestic fiction? What examples of domestic fiction can you find in the books? Choose specific examples. Explain them and relate them to the point you are trying to make (topic sentence/thesis).
What are the traits of adventure fiction? What examples of adventure fiction can you find in the books? Choose specific examples. Explain them and relate them to the point you are trying to make (topic sentence/thesis).
Please be brief in summarizing the stories as I am very familiar with both. For full credit, you will need to use examples (direct quotes, paraphrases, and summaries) taken from the story to support your points as well as identifying various literary elements used (plot, character, conflict, etc.). Sources should be used to support your viewpoint. Make sure you cite them using preferred citation style MLA or APA style. Be consistent.
