Recommendation from university;
Health Education – involves activities to facilitate health related learning and behaviour change. Often used interchangeably with health promotion it can be considered as coming under the umbrella of health promotion. It includes for example; raising awareness of health issues, providing information, motivating people to make changes in their lifestyle for their health, equipping people with the skills and confidence to make these changes.
If you are considering this theme for your discussion you may want to explore the developing role of nurses in this area, the shfting emphasis away from treatment of ill health to prevention of ill health and promotion of well being, the integration of health promotion/ health literatcy/ health education into your practice, models and approaches to health promotion, ethical issues in health promotion; this could incorporate health litearacy or this could be a stand alone subject. Ensure you can discuss your choice in sufficient depth.
