Macbeth Essay Requirements
Directions: Read the essay prompt carefully. Use essay prompt to help you complete your essay.
For this assignment
• You need 5 full paragraphs (Introduction, Body 1, Body 2, Body 3, Conclusion)
• All your paragraph should follow the Building a Paragraph Format (Topic Sentence, Detail #1, Quote, Detail #2 and Conclusion)
• At least 1000 words
• Your Introduction needs to have a topic sentence as well as a thesis statement
• 3 Quotes cited from the textbook
o for each Body paragraph you need to look up a quote from your book to help support your argument.
· Each quote needs to be cited with line numbers and page numbers
• For each quote you need to cite where in the book the quote was located (Line numbers)
Remember when writing
• A full paragraph contains 5-7 sentences
• A full essay contains 5 full paragraphs
• When writing use complete sentences

Tragic Hero- A tragic hero is a character in a dramatic tragedy who has virtuous and sympathetic traits but ultimately meets with suffering or defeat.
2. How does Shakespeare use the “unnatural” or “supernatural” to develop one key theme of the play Macbeth? Given three examples explain how.
3. The three witches told Macbeth his fate. Did the events in Macbeth’s life occur because of the witch’s prophesy or because of the choices he made? Do you think that either fate or free will played a role with Macbeth’s decisions? Give three examples from the text to support your reasoning.
4. Examine Macbeth’s deterioration throughout the play. Explain by discussing three examples from the text.
5. How did the play portray evil as a perversion of human nature? Show how Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have gone against their own natures in order to kill Duncan. Explain your argument with three reasons from the text.
