Topic:
Analyze the Monroe Doctrine and the legacy of that nineteenth century United States policy. Be sure to consider historical context, imperialism, colonialism, and ways in which the U.S. has attempted to enforce that policy through the present day. Describe the particular responses of Latin American nations and peoples confronted by various U.S. governmental and corporate activities related to the Monroe Doctrine. Discuss the extent to which U.S. diplomacy, militarism and colonialism was responsible for the Cuban Revolution and social democratic political changes in mainland South America. Finally, speak to how the related events illustrate differences in the Americas.
