It is 1994, and Orenthal James Simpson has been arrested for—and charged with—two counts of
first-degree murder in the killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald “Ron” Goldman. Your
supervising attorney has tasked you with drafting a brief Statement of Facts for a motion they are
writing.
In writing your Statement of Facts, be mindful of the facts that pertain to each element of the
alleged offense—particularly those most favorable to your position. That said, the final product
must be a fair, accurate, and ethical presentation of the facts of the case. You are to assume you
work for the side you were assigned during the first class—that is, the opposite side for which
you expressed a preference on the first day.
A template has been provided for you to use. The assignment’s body must be typed in 12-point
font, double-spaced. There is no minimum word count, though the final product is not to exceed
three pages, including the caption and preliminary information. Proper spelling, grammar, and
punctuation will be considered, and repeated mistakes will result in a deduction.
