The culture that we have been reading about in High Mountains Rising does not only exist in textbooks. Most likely, you have witnessed Appalachian culture in your own communities. Select an event you have attended that included examples of Appalachian culture.
For example:
A concert, jam session, music festival, or an art gallery
A church service or religious gathering
A restaurant, county fair, or agricultural event
A family gathering or local community event
Describe the event and its location, and discuss how it demonstrates at least one aspect of culture from High Mountains Rising. What specific qualities or traits make you consider this event or location to be Appalachian? How might the same type of event be different outside of Appalachia?
