There was an essay plan written for this essay which I will be attaching to the file. You will need to use the essay plan and base this essay on it. I am including the feedback and grade my professor gave for the essay plan as guidance as well. Students will write a 1,500- to 2,000-word paper (not counting footnote/endnotes or bibliography) on a topic related to an issue or topic discussed in the course. Your essay will use the research, writing, and critical thinking skills you developed through course assignments, lessons, and other learning materials to examine an aspect of North American Business covered in the course.
The essay is due by 11:59 pm on Sunday (Day 7) of Week 10. Please submit your assignment via Dropbox on MyLS.
Each paper must have FIVE (5) research sources and students are encouraged to use at least one primary source such as a contemporary newspaper or magazine article, government document, company annual report, etc.
Texts and other course readings may be used as essay research sources, but they must be cited to count as an essay source.

Your essay topic MUST be different than the topic of the book you reviewed.
Suggested Essay Topics:
Write a detailed case study of the business career and corporate interests of a key North American business person. Examples: Carnegie, Getty, Rockefeller, Laliberté, Gates, Eaton, Lazaridis/Balsillie, Bezos, Cook, Slim, etc.
Choose a continental American, Canadian, or Mexican rail line, automobile manufacturer, equipment manufacturer, or an airline company and provide a case study of the cultural and economic importance of the business to our understanding of its respective sector of the national economy, related cultural implications and its long-term financial performance.
Assess the economic and social/cultural implications of underworld or cartel involvement in the cross-border liquor trade during prohibition early in the twentieth century, OR the creation of the early gambling empire in Las Vegas in the mid-twentieth century, OR the cross-border drug trade and its associated violence in Mexico and the American south-west since the 1980s.
Assess the impact of post-1990 outsourcing, off shoring, and the relocation of manufacturing to right to work or union-free locations on a Canadian, American, or Mexican corporation, industry or economic sector.
Assess the relationship between energy producers, “green” politicians, and environmental activists since the 1970s in ONE of the following North American energy sectors: coal, oil, nuclear, or solar power. A specific catastrophic incident, company, or project may be used for a case study.
In the early 21st century, the United States and its North American neighbours experienced the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Identify the American origins of this major recession and discuss the catastrophic impact the recession had on America and its neighbours in North America.
