Write a journal discussing your original thoughts/opinions on the piece of literature. YOU ARE NOT to write a summary of what you read; you need to analyze. If a summary is written, the assignment will automatically receive a zero. Make sure to mostly include what you think certain things mean in the piece and WHY you say that. I want to hear what YOU think things mean. What are your thoughts about the language, characters, etc? What do you think is the THEME (the overall message) of the story? When explaining the theme, you need to offer what you think the story’s message is and why you think that. Discuss any symbols you find. Definitions of symbols and themes can be found in the Introduction to Poetry lecture/notes.
