18 months-2 years old Parent brought the childs favorite blanket and stuffed toy to calm the child. One boy started crying when his mother left so a teacher tried hugging him and consoling him but the child didn’t accept the hug. The teacher tried distracting the child with regular conversation.
2-3 years old – One child refusing to let go of mother’s hand during drop off.
The first dad drops off and cleans the child’s face, hugging and picking up the child.

18 MONTHS – 2 YEARS- child demonstrated thumbs up after using the potty independently. The teacher started singing when she got frustrated instead of showing anger toward the children.
Methods of discipline:
2-3 years- One boy asked to pick up food after himself. One child knocks over another childs block tower so the teacher pulls him away to discipline him.
Conflict resolution: 2- 3 years- one girl made a boy cry and then gave him a toy to say sorry.
Types of play observed:
18 months – 2 years – 40 minutes after being left at the daycare children started playing with each other and socializing. One child shared her blanket and stuffed toy with another child
2 years – 3 years – Boys cooking, girl holding a baby doll, one child eating a fake burger. Older kids more social than younger ones.

Favorite play item 18 months to 2 years old = Magnetic tiles were the favorite of most children. They also played with little cow figurines.
2 – 3 YEARS- Plastic balls, toy cookware.
