Your task
You are required to complete both Part A (1200 words) and Part B (300 words)
Part A (Plan of Assignment 3)
1. Background
In this section you are to include
a) The aim or purpose of your major project.
This is to include:
•
o
the topic (briefly) and the format for presentation (e.g. literature review) relevant to Assignment 3
the target group of your work and the expected impact – who is to benefit from the output of Assignment 3 and what impact would you like it to have on this group?
b) The background to the issue that is to be explored in Assignment 3 – why it is important, and evidence of a gap
•
o Note that you are not to include content in Assignment 1 that is to be included in Assignment 3. For example, if you undertake a literature review on climate change policies for Assignment 3, you wouldn’t include these policies in the background of this assignment. Instead, you might include (with references) in the background, the impact of climate change and importance of mitigation strategies worldwide, the role of the healthcare system in producing global greenhouse emissions, and the need for coordinated action by the sector to reduce its impact. Then you could state that the review in Assignment 3 will explore policies in Australia and internationally that aim to reduce emissions within the healthcare sector.
o Evidence of a gap – that there is no other recent medium on this topic (e.g., there would be no recent quality literature review answering the same research question within a similar context). ‘Recent’ is approximately 3 or more years, though it is important that there is a substantial body of work that can be included and/or will add value to or provide a different perspective/angle to the existing body of work.
2. Method
In this section you are to outline and justify the key steps for developing a major piece of work.
For example,
If your major piece of work is a literature review, consider which databases (e.g., MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE) and search terms you plan to use (e.g., Boolean operators) and other planned sources of evidence (e.g., government reports), dates of inclusion, and your justification for your choices where relevant.
Part B
Separately, in a different section (~300 words)
Discuss how this topic and approach selected might be relevant to your ideal post MPH journey, your interests, and/or how it relates to your MPH studies so far
