Writing a business report analysing the issue(s) or problem(s) and providing a recommendation/solution or conclusion
demonstrates communication skills as well as critical, analytical, and integrative thinking. Being able to communicate
clearly in writing and reflect on what you have learned is a skill that is valuable for employers and your future.
The aim of this assessment task is to write a business report that investigates and analyses the issues relating to the
impact of the data breach with Medibank Private.

2. Using the original article and further research that will assist you to answer the following questions:
a. How did the attack occur?
b. What were the vulnerabilities in the system (or systems) that were breached?
c. Who was responsible and why did they target this organisation?
d. Was it avoidable?
e. Could Cyber Insurance mitigate the risk?
f. Referring to the last few months (research content only in 2023 ) what has been the fall-out with customers.
3. Personal Reflection
Imagine (NB. You may be a customer already) you are a customer who was impacted by the data breach with Medibank
Private, discuss how you feel about your data being breached. You will create a small reflection (less than 300 words) on
your feelings about data breaches from your own personal perspective. (NB The 300 words is in addition to the 2000
words)
NB. Only the reflective component should be written in first person.
Report Requirements
1. The assessment is broken into two parts. First part:
1.1 Write a report that addresses the areas outlined above. The first part should answer questions (a -f). This part
should not exceed 2,000 words (the reference list, title page, table of contents and appendices are not included
in the word count). There will be a turnitin link provided on ilearn.
1.2 The second part should answer question 3 (personal reflection). You will create a small reflection (less than 300
words) on your feelings about data breaches from your own personal perspective. (NB The 300 words is in
addition to the 2000 words)
