Within the past few hundred years, Native Americans have faced many issues such as Genocide, dislocation, discrimination, and abuse. All these negative factors lead to violence, poverty, and suicide on the Native Americans. Here are some of the improvements that I found in my research. Starting with the National Park Services, they help tribes protect resources and traditions that are important, and it mentions that the tribal heritage grants helps these tribes to preserve projects. A big issue is the loss of native American culture because of the lack of educational opportunities, mental health disparities, the impact from Historical trauma, and economic independence (CITE 1). Some of the Benefits that tribes can get now according to the U.S Department of the Interior state that “all American Indians and Alaska Natives whether they live on or off reservations are eligible to receive services provided by the state” these services can include TANF, SSI and LIHEAP (CITE2).
