Training, location, and population are all important aspects to consider. Location is important as I have a busy schedule so I need something that is close enough that it works with my busy life and establishes relationship in areas I might wanted to later have a career in. Training is important as I want to learn as much as possible and be well prepared as I enter the workforce after graduation. Population is a major aspect to consider as I want to learn about populations I could or will be working with as I become a practicing social worker. I want to know how to work with these populations, what advocacy they need, and establish a name for myself as a trusted social worker within the population. These things are immensely important in planning for ones future career as a social worker (Doskocil & Voshel, n.d.).
