For this assignment you will draft a personal code of ethics.
Roughly 6-7 statements/principles, each describing a personal value statement and guideline.
The Process:
1. Determine the purpose for writing a personal code of ethics. In this case, this assignment asks that you identify and reflect on your personal values and guiding principles. Begin by outlining the values that guide your day-to-day behavior and decisions and/or provide a standard for the kind of person you would like to be through an examination of your reasoning.
2. Write a list of your personal traits that you believe represent who you are as a person. These may be examples such as kindness, honesty, or any other characteristic that you think reflects your behaviors.
3. Think about your relationships with others. Would people close to you agree with the traits that you ascribe to yourself.
4. Finally, write a set of statements that can serve as a guide for the types of actions that it will take to meet those expectations using the values you listed in step 1 and the traits in step 2.
5. Write guidelines, or rules, for each statement that provides an explanation of how you intend to meet your own requirements, or personal statements that reinforce the importance of utilizing/applying your personal code of ethics.

“I will treat others as I wish to be treated.I will dedicate myself to acting courteously in my day-to-day interactions with others, despite my mood or current life situation. It is important to me to have a positive impact on the people I come into contact with.”
