What type of relationship would you like to see develop between the center you direct, and the teachers there, with the parents of the children served?

Using theoretical frameworks as teachers of CDYC and information and theoretical frameworks pertinent to filling the role of “Director”, you are to develop a personal philosophy statement from the stance of director. (All questions must be answered in full.)

Chapters 1, 2, & 3 should be read prior to engaging in this assignment. Information from all 3 of those chapters should be incorporated into your philosophy as a director. Be sure to read the article, “Applying Theories in Managing a Child Development Center”. Apply this information to your philosophy wherever it’s pertinent to your beliefs.

As you are writing, keep in mind that this philosophy is to consist of your own words—nothing “borrowed” from the internet or another printed source. To use someone else’s words as your own, and to use someone’s words without their permission without giving credit to them as it being their words is plagiarism. Theft of their words will earn a grade of 0. In addition, you must adhere to the size and type of font stipulated in the course syllabus. Your margins should be 1 1/2″ on the left, and 1″ on the top, right, and bottom of the page. Your paper must be double-spaced and typed using either Times New Roman or Arial font in a 12, 13, or 14 pt. font. Your name, the date the paper is submitted, and the course (CDYC 280) must be at the top of the paper (left or right–it doesn’t matter). The title of the paper should be centered above the text of the paper.

Which theories/theorist do you embrace as guidance for what a good director would do?

Explain why you embrace any theory you have mentioned.

Discuss how the center/school will be setup. How will the classrooms be organized? (An entire paragraph is needed.)

In an additional paragraph, explain and/or identify the type of curriculum that will be used to teach the children.

Related to that curriculum you have chosen to use, how will you expect the teachers that you hire to teach those children? What type(s) of approach(es) and strategies are they expected to use?

What type of discipline will be used by you and the teachers employed in your center to guide and discipline the children throughout the days? Why have you chosen that approach?

What type of relationship would you like to see develop between the center you direct, and the teachers there, with the parents of the children served? How do you envision this relationship being developed? (Communications)

How will children, teachers, staff, and you be assessed? (You must answer this question for all entities listed. Your assessments of children must stick to the 3 main types of assessment used in early childhood education or a combination of those and assessment instruments. A curriculum is not an assessment. A computer program used in a curriculum is not an assessment instrument or tool.)
