Write a paper that addresses the difficulties in using multi-level theories to develop public health interventions.
Demonstrate the reasons for considering theories that address multiple ecological levels.
Describe a selection of key behavioral theories focusing on the ways in which factors at different ecological levels interact to ultimately influence what individuals do or don’t do.
Illustrate the dilemmas involved in applying and testing multilevel theories.
Interpret selected critiques of multilevel theories.
As we have discovered, explaining human health behavior is very complex and rarely attributable to one theory or explanation; that’s what makes it so hard to influence! As you review multi-level theories, ask yourself if these are relevant to some specific behaviors that you have witnessed. Do they reflect all possible influences? Are they too complicated to be useful?
