After reading You Are What You Love, chapter 1, answer the following questions:
1. How would you describe the thesis of Smith’s book? What is his main argument?
2. What does Smith mean by “habit”? How do habits play into his vision of the Christian life?
3. Based on what you’ve read so far, do you think there is a tendency for Smith to downplay the role of thinking and believing? Why or why not?
The discussion board has two parts: 1) the original response, which requires students to respond clearly and thoughtfully (200 words minimum) to the discussion questions above. Then, 2) each student will interact with at least two classmates’ original responses during the week of the discussion board.
