Student will reference Chapter 3: History of Early Childhood Education (textbook) and two additional resources to gather information and research one of the following educational approaches/curriculum/models: High/Scope
Part I- Answer the following questions in Q and A format :
1. A brief history of the educational approach selected.
2. Brief biography of the originator (s) of the approach.
3. Describe what you view as the major features of the program.
4. Analyze how what you read reflects the history of early childhood education.
5. Include your thoughts and reactions to what you learned about the educational approach you selected.
6. What are the implications for you as an early childhood educator with regard to your research?
Part II-Educational Approach Visuals to include:
– Picture with name (s) of person (s) who developed the educational approach.
– Environment: two pictures of the indoor classroom and two pictures of the outdoor environment.
– Educational Materials: six specific items used by the educational approach with a brief explanation of the purpose of the item. For example: Montessori Bells are a sensorial didactic material used to signal to children the daily routine or transitions; and for children to learn different concepts of sounds. They also learn to clean and care for the bells in the classroom.
– Typed sample of the daily routine or schedule.
