Characteristics of a Good Teacher:
Write about the characteristics of one or more memorable teachers that you have had. Some specific questions that might be worth considering are listed below:
Who was my favorite school teacher? Why?
What subject did you learn particularly well? Why?
What teacher inspired you to work hard? How?
What teacher did you particularly dislike? Why?
What were some of the personal traits of a teacher that you liked a great deal?
Did any teacher change the course of your life? How?
Lastly, write your own teaching philosophy. Knowing who you are as a teacher before you enter the classroom will help significantly. Teaching is so much more than just the content. Teaching is a learning curve on a philosophy that will never be finished. Just as your classroom will change every year, continue to alter your philosophies. See what works for you and your students on a collaborative level.
