Healthcare trends may be viewed as a prevailing hot topic, such as vaccines among students in a school setting or the use of innovative technology in clinical practice. Alternatively, a trend could be the statistical change in data over time, such as decreasing death rate from heart disease over 20 years. As an MSN professional nurse, you will be expected to understand healthcare trends related to your setting, role, and the population with whom you work.
Scenario
Imagine that as an MSN professional nurse you have been asked to assist in the creation of a poster for patients regarding a trend you have been investigating. Specifically, you are being asked to develop the content for the patient education poster. Remember, as a poster, your ideas should be concise with language appropriate for the layperson (i.e., written at approximately a sixth-grade level). You can get as creative as you wish using Microsoft Word or you may decide to start assisting with the visual design of the poster by using an alternative program.

Consider the most challenging experience you have had with a trend in your professional nursing practice.
Be sure to include the following:
Trend Description: Describe the trend. This should be a concise summary using only 1 to 2 sentences.
Contributing Factors: Summarize factors contributing to the trend. Include concise bullet points of at least two factors contributing to the trend.
Stakeholders: Determine stakeholders related to the trend. Using one sentence for each stakeholder, address the following:
Identify at least one stakeholder who influenced the trend and discuss how they influenced the trend.
Identify at least one stakeholder affected by the trend and discuss how they are affected by the trend.
Anticipatory Guidance: Explain an action patients should take as a result of the trend. Consider the anticipatory guidance you would provide to patients in clinical practice. You may even determine that more than one action should be provided, given the context of the trend you identified.
