Black Feminist Disability Framework

A suitable discussion board answer is at least 4-6 sentences.

This week’s discussion board focuses on Moya Bailey and Izetta Autumn Mobley’s (2019) article: “Work in the Intersections: A Black Feminist Disability Framework” published in Gender & Society.

Your question this week is based on your reading. Be sure to cite/acknowledge any ideas that are not your own. However, given that the ideal discussion board post is somewhere between 4-6 sentences of your own words. I caution you against using large block quotes. Continue to work on paraphrasing without plagiarizing and always citing!

Reminder: After you submit your own discussion board post, you need to respond to the discussion posts of TWO different colleagues. Try to choose different people each week until you’ve commented on a post from every one in POL 313. In your response to your colleagues’ posts, you could “make a connection (sharing a similarity or difference).” Alternatively, you could “ask a question to find out more, or comment on a key idea that was mentioned, which is a new idea for yourself or something you didn’t previously consider.” Engage with the substance of your colleague’s ideas.

In your own discussion post, remember to answer the entire question!

Prompt: What is the most important finding/conclusion in Bailey and Mobley’s (2019) article: “Work in the Intersections: A Black Feminist Disability Framework”? Defend your point of view, what makes this particular finding/conclusion the most important? and what are its application outside of the academy?

Reminder: you must provide evidence (for every argument you make) using credible citations [per your week two course materials]. Keep track of how many arguments you are making in your discussion post. Students often lose track of what they set out to say. Focus on writing one strong argument per discussion post.

Reminder: You are not required to provide any additional or extra citations. Simply citing this week’s reading is enough. However, in political science, you cannot make claims of fact without providing a citation. If your argument requires it, you may need to include extra citations to make a legitimate argument. Regardless, every argument requires proof of evidence via citation.

At the bottom of your discussion post, please list any citations you use. You must provide the complete citation in APA format for each citation, and your citations must be in alphabetical order.

Examples of what you could cite: my videos, other academic presentations, peer-reviewed articles, newspaper citations, think tank reports, statistical institute reports, or magazine citations. Go back to “week two” in the course materials module if you are unsure if your citation is credible. Remember, blogs are not reliable or credible citations. Even if it is an academic blog
