Part A: Short Essays
Write short essays of approximately 750 words on any two of the following topics.
In his article, “On Rising Crime in Toronto,” Ksenych discusses how a commercialized mass media influences news content, with reference to Czerny and Swift. Identify and discuss these consequences, and give an example of each.
With reference to the music industry, and specifically to hip hop, why could commercialization and mass consumption be considered to be ironic? Explain and illustrate.
Hogeveen argues that the Canadian system emphasizes vengeance as the keystone to its approach to youth justice. Explain what vengeance means. Is it the same as retribution? Give an example.
