Purpose: To help you learn about diabetes management or prevention programs.
Length: 4-5 pages.
First, you will find and obtain information about a diabetes management/prevention program in their community. This must be a diabetes management/prevention specific program and not a chronic disease self-management program.
Second, you will conduct a literature search using the library’s electronic databases (e.g. MedLine, CINAHL, Social Work Abstracts) to find at least four (4) recent (no more than 5 years old) scholarly references on diabetes management for adults or older adults. None of these reference can be websites. You just use journal articles or books.
Third, you will need to write a paper in which you will describe your selected diabetes management or prevention program in the community. Then you will discuss the main points of the four recent scholarly references regarding diabetes management/prevention programs. Last, you will also briefly discuss how you might plan to use this information to promote your own or others’ health in the future.
