News Briefing Assignment #1
Introduction, Constitution, Federalism and Civil Liberties
1.) Locate a current events article not older than 14 days from the day you submit the assignment. The article should be about an event, something that has happened in the United States. The event should be related to politics or government policy in the United States. The source must be credible such as a reputable news outlet. Schedule an appointment with the librarian if you are unsure of this step.
2.) 1st Paragraph: Summarize the most important information from the article in your own words. As noted in the syllabus, Turnitin will be used on all assignments to detect plagiarism. 3.) 2nd Paragraph: Relate the article to the topic and readings of the chapters you are currently completing. In this assignment, you should connect your article and discuss the content related to American Government & Civic Engagement, The Constitution, Federalism and/or Civil Liberties. This paragraph is your analysis relating the real world to the information in your text book. The connections should be clear.
4.) 3rd Paragraph: Present your own informed opinion about the political issue.
5.) Formatting: Use APA formatting WITHOUT an abstract. Use in text citations. The reference page should be a separate page at the end.
6.) Word count: 500-750 words
