What would you do if you were stranded on a desert island? Uninhabitable planet? Your crew just left. No way to call them back for a rescue mission, and the next flight will be four years down the road (hypothetical question, not required for the final project).
1. For this project, watch one of the movies listed below (For example, The Martian starring Matt Damon).
2. Pick one (1) main character to analyze : Example: Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon); NASA CEO Teddy Sanders (Jeff Daniels); Director of Communications Annie Montrose (Kristin Wiig); Commander Melissa Lewis (Jessica Chastain). See semester project examples – different characters have different root problems and objectives that will impact your project.
3. You will then develop your semester project using the four strategies learned this semester (DIGEST, Mind-Mapping, Pro/Con, Weighted Matrix)*. Use each method and build a problem-solving system using the information provided by the movie. Remember, each character has a different “problem” and perspective to consider.
The semester project should use all four strategies we learned this semester. You must use the four strategies on one character. However, all four strategies should demonstrate problem-solving the root problem identified earlier in the semester

*** DIGEST Method should be complete sentences, with enough details that a person who has never seen the movie would be able to follow along.
***Mind Mapping should have a minimum of 40 bubbles
***Pro/Con list should have a minimum of 30 points (divided among the two lists)
***Weighted Matrix 5×5 (or larger)- 5 Options and 5 Factors to consider
4. Write a case study using the outline attached. Minimum 7 pages without headers.
This assignment will be completed following standard business writing format: Times New Roman, Size 12, Double Spaced Paragraphs, with 1″ Margins. This also includes proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization (I strongly recommend you take your assignment to the Writing Corner or submit it through SmartThinking before uploading). All quotes must use APA citations.
