A 3-page paper in which students summarize a journal article that contains original research related to tourism and/or commercial recreation. Students need to explain the methods and findings presented. The journal article review needs to critique the article and offer opportunities to advance the research. The paper needs to include the student’s opinion on the value of the study. How will this study further the goals of tourism and commercial recreation? Does the article describe, explain, predict and influence behavior? What does it add to the knowledge base concerning tourism and/or commercial recreation? Students should include an official citation of the article. Some possible peer reviewed journals include: International Journal of Tourism Sciences, Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Vacation Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality Research, Tourism Management, Tourist Studies, Journal of Tourism History.
