In the US in the early 1900s Charles Davenport was a proponent of eugenics and based
part of his arguments on simplified interpretations of Mendelian genetics. Many of the
arguments made by proponents of eugenics were countered by the geneticist Thomas
Hunt Morgan. In a one page essay give brief scientific biographies of Davenport and
Morgan and then describe one or more flawed assumptions made by eugenicists that is
based on what we learned about from the extensions to Mendel’s laws. Please include two references in your essay.
