Being in the military, comes with strict weight requirements. Often times we run into people struggling to lose weight or stay within the required limits. As a health worker (navy corpsman) obesity has always intrigued me. Is it genetics? Could it be laziness? Why do people with weight problems feel stuck with their weight? With technology advancing day by day and research being conducted on health and nutrition constantly you would think our society would be filled with fit individuals. On the contrary in todays era we are seeing the steady climb of obesity within our population. The answers on how to lose weight are accessible on the internet yet somehow people that are overweight are stuck with the mindset of being helpless and not able to change their state of being. Some would argue it’s due to the lack of self discipline, the convince of fast food, daily stressors or even the lack of education on proper nutrition. I want to dive into what makes a person do a full 180 on their life, what triggers the human mindset to jump into the intense transformation from fat to fit. My theory is that in order for an individual to lose weight they have to have a purpose, a goal or a passion to want the change in their physique.
