Analyze one of your own skills related to guiding young children. What are some other skills that this identified skill is built on? At what age did you begin developing the original skill? Who assisted you in developing that skill. What human resources were involved?
Think of examples of child care professionals you have observed or worked with. Make a list of the human and non-human resources these professionals have tapped to achieve a goal for children.
Observe a child at play for an hour or so. Look for examples of behaviors that they would consider positive or negative…and why. Create a list with three columns, one for each category (positive, negative, why). How did the caregiver respond overall to these observed behaviors?
