THIS IS TWO ASSINGMENTS IN ONE (PAPER AND PRESENATION) IGNORE THE MENTIONS OF VOICE THREAD ON
LY PREPARE THE PAPER AND THE SLIDE
Step One: Find an image reflective of “New Imperialism.” Your image might be a painting; an old photo, cartoon, or advertisement; or an image of an artifact. To find an image, you can do an internet search or you can browse through online databases (see below for some suggestions). Do not pick the first image you find! Just because an image comes up in your search does not make it a relevant or good image for this assignment!
Step Two: Do a bit of research on your image. You need to know the context of the image. For example, if it is a work of art, you need to know the title, date, and name of the artist. If it is an advertisement or cartoon, where was it published and when? If it is an image of artifact, where is the artifact from? You want to collect as much information as possible about the image.
Step Three: Write a short paper (1.5 to 2 pages in length or 400 to 600 words) about your image that summarizes your research and explains why YOU think this image is relevant to the topic of New Imperialism. Make sure to cite all the sources you use, including the course material. You should also include the bibliographical information for the image. You will be submitting this paper through the Image Background and Analysis assignment link below.
Step Four: Create and share a VoiceThread Presentation that displays your image, provides some background and context, and prompts a response. You can do this by uploading a slide or PowerPoint presentation, linking to the the URL of the image along with a voice comment, or recording your screen.
