This assignment is a journal entry to help brainstorm topic ideas for a Travel Esasay (Project 1).
The options for this assignment are broad. You can write about a specific building, or a street, or a shop, or an office, or a theater, or a house, or a park, or a parking lot, or a specific room or area in a larger place. “Place” itself is a broadly applicable term, so experiment with options before you settle on a topic. The closer you look at something, the more carefully you observe and learn about it, the more likely that “something” will reveal more levels of interest. Once you have selected a place or two that strike you as potentially good topics for this essay, you will need to visit and explore and observe this place more carefully. I was thinking maybe Central Park in New York City.
You can also use the other three essays we previously examined to help with brainstorming. After reading the Explanation of Assignment for Project 1 (posted in the Project 1 folder in Blackboard), complete brainstorming and exploratory writing to consider possible ideas for your focus.
I have included Project 1 in the files below for reference.
