Assignment 3: Classroom Management/Behavior Plan
Design a Classroom Management/Behavior Plan that includes the components listed below. When writing this paper, you are giving an overview of what you would like your current or future classroom to look like to support behavior.
Design a Classroom Behavior Management Plans that includes the following components:
1. In a paragraph or two, describe the classroom setting and the steps you take to manage the setting (arrangements of seats, displays, noise level, etc.) in a manner that enhances student behavior and achievement. You may include a picture of the classroom, remembering to describe why you have it set up the way you do. For example, if you have a runner in the classroom, perhaps sitting him in front of the class, away from the door is a good idea. If you have a student with ADHD, you may not sit the student by the window, etc.
2. In a paragraph, describe your classroom rules and how they are developed and presented to the class. You should have specific rules that are observable and measurable. Something like raising your hand before you speak is observable and measurable. RESPECTING others is not observable and measurable as everyone has a different understanding about the definition of respect and what it means.
3. In no more than 3 paragraphs, describe at least one positive reinforcement system that you would like to use in your classroom. Explain why you prefer this system and how it works so that others could use this system if they read your description. Please remember that this is a positive plan. How do you reinforce appropriate behaviors, how often do you reinforce them, and what exactly are you looking for in their behaviors?
4. In a paragraph or two explain how teacher traits/behaviors may at times be the antecedent to a student’s behavior. How do our personality/gifts, learning/teaching styles, etc. impact students, positively and negatively? The teacher sets the scene in any classroom. If you are negative or angry – things may not go the way you want them to go. If you are positive and passionate so are your students. Explain how teacher awareness of these issues may impact positively in the classroom.
Ensure you are using APA formatting (APA 7th edition). Each assignment should have a title page, abstract, and reference page.
