PURPOSE: Reflect on the process and discoveries made while making the preceding artifacts and how these influence your thinking about your plans moving forward
TASKS:
After you have created artifacts 1-4:
Review the artifacts you have created: sit back and think about them, about exploring and compiling them, and what you learned and have yet to learn.
Compose a 650+ word, multiple paragraph reflective essay, addressing the big picture that emerged for you as you compiled the portfolio: the process of making the artifacts, your discoveries, your plan moving forward.
Introduce the essay, reflect on the artifacts and the process of creating the learning plan portfolio, relate what you have learned and discussed in your COLL101 class that applies to your portfolio or plan, and share your current strategies in meeting your goals. Offer details, citations/references, and a conclusion to your essay. If you consult any sources, be sure to include a references list, works cited, or bibliography.
These reflection prompts or questions should be directly or indirectly addressed in your About the big picture reflective essay. You may also address other things if you desire.
How do you introduce your essay?
What did you learn from the process of creating the artifacts?
About me: What did you learn about your preferences, interests, skills and how do these contribute to the formulation of your career or educational goals? Do you see these changing over time?
About my career options: What did you discover when you looked at careers/occupations? Were you surprised by certain information? Did anything on the site make you more, or less, interested in a career and why? Do you feel that your education and career are interconnected or separate? Why? What kind of career goals have become clearer to you?
About my Education and Transfer Plan: What did you discover in the process of taking the STAQ, meeting an Academic advisor, and drafting your Educational and Transfer Plan for your time at Cascadia? What are your academic goals and your academic strategy? How did the Academic advisor help you? With whom did you meet and when? (And, when and for what reasons might you meet with an Academic advisor again?) How did the earlier artifacts inform your creation of your Education and Transfer Plan? Does the plan help you feel more grounded and focused about your work at Cascadia: Why or why not? For which future classes might you need extra support? How will you go about getting more support?
About my plans after Cascadia: Wild card explorations: How do your wild card artifacts connect with your interests, skills, your career options, your educational plan at Cascadia? What kinds of adjustments do you see yourself making?
What other learning activities and materials from the COLL101 class have contributed to your thinking about your plans, and how? Make concrete references to show how other learning activities and materials inform your thinking. Some guiding questions include:
How will you manage your time, your wellness, your educational priorities, your finances?
What tools or ideas from COLL101 will be important for you in the future, and how? (Be specific and use citations as appropriate.)
What was it like to create the Learning Plan Portfolio? What are you excited about? What do you feel challenged by? What is your current strategy for moving forward in your education and with your life and/or career interests?
How do you conclude your essay?
Which sources contributed to your understanding and how are you citing them?
