1. Review Table 10.1 Levels of Legal Considerations on page 223. Identify the levels and laws impact your organization or educational program?
2. Look at a current job description for an employee in your organization (or an organization which you are familiar). How does this document help guide the hiring, termination, and feedback process?
3. How are points of impact addressed for a training you administer or one in which you are involved as a participant? How might points of impact affect those of certain protected classes?
4. When you think of the best organizational climate you have worked in, what do you think of? When you think of the worst climate you have worked in, what do you think of? In both situations, were personnel in leadership aware of the organizational climate?
5. Think of a critical incident in your practice involving legal issues. What do you remember most about this incident? How were you involved? How was the issue handled? What did you learn from was the process was handled?
6. Identify and review a code of ethics for your profession or another group. What is included in the code of ethics? What is not, but should be, included? With which points do you agree or disagree?
7. Search for a current news story in education that involves ethical and/or legal controversy or debate. How would you handle the situation as an administrator? Why would you have handled it that way?
