Evidence-based practice is now generally recognized as the key to improving healthcare quality and patient outcomes. This reality has led to an increase in nursing research to generate enough evidence to support necessary practice changes that would improve nursing education and practice (Li Yin Chien, 2019). Across the country, healthcare institutions and nurses in particular are increasingly applying evidence-based practice which incorporates research findings into daily patient care, interventions and decisions. My current place of practice is not left out of implementing an evidence-based approach to patient nursing care. This is achieved through the implementation of various policies designed to reflect current best practices based on research evidence in nursing care. This has led to increased positive patient outcome and satisfaction as observed from the many positive feedbacks through reviews received from the patients. Spiritual care is a key element in holistic approach to individualized patient care. Though times are changing and there are different views and beliefs on spirituality, almost every human on earth believes in God as the supreme owner and ruler of the whole universe. While taking care of the body, the spirit and soul of a sick individual also require care to ensure a balanced therapy. To achieve this, Cheryl Green (2021) suggested meditation, taking time to connect with communities of similar faith and paying attention to things and issues that offer hope as some of the ways to make spirituality and self-care a practice for self and patients. In addition, spiritual care is one of the core values of the Christian faith. 3 John 1:2 says, “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well” (NIV). This bible passage succinctly sums up God’s desire for us to be healthy in all spheres. That bible passage emphasized that it is God’s desire that we be in health physically and spiritually. This to me, demonstrates that the Christian worldview is in support of spiritual health.
