Your work ought to develop especially in response to the following: Research that supports your developmental thinking and critique in response to the innovation or invention you choose to examine.
Researching a topic:
Locate what others have to say about your topic. Others = individuals, groups, companies, institutions, scholarly/trade/popular resources (possibilities seem endless). How might you align yourself within the conversation (for instance, are you an outlier? Where/with whom/how do you agree, disagree, and to what extent?)? What will you add to the conversation as it unfolds by way of your research?
Locating purpose:
Ask yourself why/how any of this matters and for whom. Why should any of your peers care? What is at stake if we do not pay attention to anything you have to say about this topic? Work towards articulating a sense of purpose.
