Can we separate the artist from the art? Should we? Why or why not?

For this essay you will write 7-8 pages, fully exploring your answer.
You may use one of the examples, we used in class or an artist of your choice. Tell of the unsavory act/acts the artist is allegedly (or fully convicted) being charged with and how his/her actions affect the way one views the art.
Did it change for you? Why or why not? Should we have separate perceptions of the artist and the art?
And finally, lets not forget our theorist: Michel Foucault and What is an Author? Make sure
to incorporate his theory as it ties in with yours.
