Case Study Analysis
A no longer than five-minute oral presentation. (I can record a written transcript) Oral presentations can include, for example, Powerpoint presentations, talking heads, animated videos, and creative commons use images. Presentations should be clear and coherent and follow the requirements. I think that if done by powerpoint 5 slides with one minute of text in the notes, I can record the notes onto each slide.

Please pick one, from the following, on which to research and present.

The topics for the case study analysis are:
1. What is ethical eating and the moral status of cellular or synthetic meat?
2. What ethics requires for allocating scarce medical resources during a pandemic
3. What should the ethical bases be for US foreign humanitarian aid policies?
4. What ethical principles should govern artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics?

Generally, each case study should:
1. Address significant conceptual ethical themes and recent empirical data that is relevant to your chosen case. Provide concrete examples

2. Be a critical, well-researched and balanced scholarly exposition (including references); introduce the subject matter and clearly delineate the main ethical issues

3. Be thesis driven, take a critical and argumentative approach (see Activities to Structure Your Analysis below)

4. Use media (e.g., videos, reputable links) that enables the articulation of or which helps to underscore central points in vivid terms

Activities to Structure Your Analysis
Argument analysis consists of two main parts: Reconstruction and Evaluation. The former consists of identifying the main reasons or premises given for the truth of the conclusion. The latter involves assessing the strength of the inference and the truth/reasonableness of the premises.

For this assignment, your presentation should be informed by no fewer than four peer-reviewed
journal articles on the case study of your choice.

Activity 1: Review the articles and reconstruct the main arguments of each of the articles
– Active reading and comprehension
– Identify the main four premises (P) and the conclusion (C)
– Put the argument into standard form (P1-P4: .; C: )
– Indicate which premises are informing (conveys an empirical claim) and guiding premises (has a moral principle), respectively
Activity 2: Analyze the merits of the arguments
– Are the premises true or reasonable to accept as true? On what grounds?
– Evaluate the moral claim(s) by appealing to the 4Cs (see Critical Thinking and document)
– How strong is the inference (do the premises establish their conclusion?)
Activity 3: Develop your own argument and presentation
Your presentation should include your argument reconstruction and analysis. Consider the strength of the inference for your main argument and the truth of your premises. Consider an objection to one of the main premises (not against the conclusion) and provide a suitable rejoinder.
Activity 4: Synthesize your research and argument analysis
Incorporate your efforts into an insightful and clear oral presentation.
