Trauma is experienced in several characters in Black Panther. In an essay discuss how trauma can affect a persons identity by using your class notes, the film, the articles on Blackboard and four (4) sources you must choose on your own to support your argument.
In your essay be sure to include:
Specifically what type or types of trauma may affect a persons identity? For example TChalla losing his father
The importance of trust
How guilt may play a factor in a persons decision making?
How keeping secrets can destroy relationships.
Discuss how and why this occurs in Black Panther
Focus:
This essay should have a clear thesis/statement of your argument somewhere in your first paragraph (your introduction). You must address your essay from an analytical perspective. Do not just cover the details of what occurs in the text. I do not want a summary of events in the movie alone. Instead use the movie and materials to help develop your ideas. You may use personal experience to help support your argument. You must also provide your reader with enough context/background so that they can follow your position. Summarizing the film and the material you are using to develop your essay help in this instance however, you should not mistake summary for analysis. Having a plan is helpful. Your main idea in topic A is how trauma impacts a persons identity. Your main idea in topic B is your position about what makes a family. Brainstorm and map out how youre going to develop the ideas in your essay. When in doubt ask questions. Dont wait until its too late to try to figure out what is happening.
