sources that might help you figure out how your career of interest may change.

Introduction
Remember, an intro needs to provide an overview of the specific controversy your essay addresses. Which of the arguments we encountered in the Unit 3 essay packets are you focusing on?
You’ll eventually need a thesis, your opinion on this controversy — but wait until after you’ve written your draft to come up with it. Once you’ve written the whole draft, you can go back and sum up what you learned about how your career of interest may change (or not) in the coming years. That’ll work as a thesis.

This is where you’ll include the aspects of the controversy that grabbed your attention. We’re shooting for a couple of pages here, so you’ll need to pull out 1, 2 or maybe even 3 arguments. They can be from any of the 6 essays we read for unit 3, the ones about work and automation.
For each argument, you’ll need to do the following things.
Summarize the argument you’re interested in, citing it correctly. You can use a quote or paraphrase it.
In your own words, explain what the argument is, and why the author makes it.
In your own words, explain why it grabs your attention, and what is interesting about it. Try to use specific examples, cause and effect, definitions, or compare/contrasts in explaining what grabs your attention about this point.

And now you need to weigh in and discuss how this controversy impacts you and your life. You’ll want a couple of pages here, too, so start by adding a transition – explain what your career of interest is, and why it’s interesting to you.
Then, show me that you’ve been able to find a couple of sources explaining how they think your career might change in the coming years. As you research, use key words like your profession, along with search terms like “automation” or “the future of” or “pandemic.”
For each source you’ve found, mention what the source is and where you found it, and then summarize the main idea. Then, explain your thoughts on it. Is it reassuring? Does it raise uncertainties? Provide ideas about preparing for this career?
End by providing your own response, your “I say.” Do any of the arguments you’ve read in the essay packet for unit 3 apply to this profession? Why or why not? What’s your takeaway?
