This activity relates to ILO1, ILO2, ILO5, ILO6, and ILO7. Select a global/international organisation on your own. Individually assess the organisation as follows.
- Explain and illustrate the supply chain of the chosen organisation by determining all players (e.g., supplier of suppliers, suppliers, manufacturer/service provider, distributor, wholesaler, retailer, etc.) involved (for a single product, a product family, or the entire organisation).
- Critically analyse the main processes and operations (i.e., plan, source, make, deliver, return, enablers) of the selected organisation according to the supply chain operations reference (SCOR) model. Critically discuss the situation of the processes and operations of the chosen organisation according to the first two-level (level 1 and level 2) of the SCOR framework.
- What are the main capabilities of this organisation in the international marketing (IM) and the global supply chain (GSC)? Then analyse these capabilities by value, rarity, imitability, and organisational support (VRIO) approach and determine whether they are sustainable competitive advantages or not at a global level.
- Critically compare different schools of strategic management and recommend the most suitable school(s) of strategic management for your chosen organisation. How this recommendation supports GSC planning and IM for this organisation?
