Life stages of development ( early childhood, adolescence and adulthood)
Research Report 1800 words.
Task Summary
To consolidate your knowledge of life stages and development, for this assessment you are required to interview a person in the later years of their life and write a report on the impacts to their lifespan development.
The report needs to describe major developmental transitions experienced by the interviewee. Students will provide a more detailed description of one major developmental period and any disorders that may have emerged. Finally, a brief conclusion will focus on why gaining a clear understanding of developmental history might be important when counselling adults.
Please see the Task Instructions for more details
Context
This assessment task will consolidate your knowledge of human life stages, complex developmental processes, and their impacts on people you will interact with professionally. It will assist you to acquire in-depth knowledge of lifespan theories of development for a range of contexts and allow you to apply this knowledge to counselling situations in your professional life. It will also enhance your interview skills.
Task Instructions For this assessment, you are required to interview a person of middle or older age about their personal experiences during different life stages and submit a research report covering the impacts on human development across the lifespan
During the interview, you must take notes and explore significant events the person has experienced during various developmental periods, including traumatic and positive experiences, and discuss how these have affected the persons life.
You are then to critically analyse the persons narrative in a report. In the analysis, you are expected to identify the major developmental periods of the persons life and the significant factors, such as trauma, that may have influenced changes during those periods (including any disorders that emerged) and discuss how these may have been shaped by biological, historical, social and cultural forces.
In your report, you are encouraged to use direct quotes from the interview participant. However, these are to account for no more than 200 words and are to be specific to the themes being discussed.
Interview Considerations In-depth (unstructured and semi-structured) interviewing is a major method of data collection in qualitative research. It involves asking an open-ended question in order to invite story-telling, e.g., Can you tell me the story of your life so far? Although there is no specific order to follow when using this interview method, interviewers do use a checklist of topics to be covered as an interview guide to assist in focusing on the themes to be explored
For this assessment we have to use any developmental theories and I think Vygotsky, attachment, theory, play theory and any other theory about trauma we can use. This is based on the interview Any developmental theory we are allowed to use. But I think for this interview, Vygotsky, Bandura, and Piaget will work well.
For this assessment use developmental theories:
1) Vygotsky sociocultural theory
2) Attachment theory
3) Play theory
4) Bandura (Learning Theory)
5) Trauma. (if you can find information about trauma, as the person that I interviewed experience bullying at school and we can mention a little bit of how the buying impacted in his life. (the teacher said that we can mentioned that in the report.
This is the instruction from the teacher:
Introduction: EXAMPLE given by the teacher
1)This report will be an analysis of an interview of a life story of . And I will discuss the stages of development of early childhood, adolescence, and late adulthood. And that theories that will be unpack will be
2)Write 5 sentences about Marios Story overview about his life. For example, Mario was born in Chile he is the second child in the family etc. Mario speak Spanish and English etc
3) Then apply the theories for example:
Being able to apply attachment theory for early childhood ( do the analysis with the interview)
Being able to apply Vygotsky theory to adolescent, its easy to see how the theory aligned with the description that Rod has described, however (look at the literature and do the analysis with the interview and put it together with the theories,
4 Bandura Learning Theory and then put examples from the interview. (
Or you could say, Mario grew up in a multicultural society (look at the interview and them look at the literature Vislosky with the multicultural theory.
Please look at the resources which I will provide, especially chapter 8 of childhood trauma there is lots of information for the assessment
Look at the developmental trauma
Child developmental impact
