Purpose: This purpose of this assignment is to assist you in understanding nonverbal communication behaviors that we have discussed in this course and allow you to see those in a natural environment. For this assignment, you will be required to observe the nonverbal behaviors of someone (i.e roommate, friend, family member etc.) and track the nonverbal behaviors of that person. You will then write a paper explaining their nonverbal behavior by applying the course concepts from chapters 2-10. Your paper should follow proper writing guidelines and demonstrate understanding and application of concepts, ideas, and theories related to nonverbal communication.

Introduction: Include a clear introduction with a thesis statement that overviews the paper.

Part 1: Describe the person/persons whose nonverbal behavior you tracked. Include any details in this section that would help the reader understand who you tracked even if they do not know them. Please also describe the setting of the interactions you observed. Finally, please include a brief rationale of why you selected this person to observe.

Part 2: After tracking the nonverbal behavior of the person, you observed, select at least three concepts from the course (i.e. kinetics, polemics, touch, face, vocal cues, chronicles, eye behavior, etc.) that are most applicable to the interaction. In part 2, you will thoroughly explain your first chosen concept. In your explanation be sure to define the concept and provide a general example (not an example from what you watched) to help support your explanation. After defining and providing a general example, you’ll explain the nonverbal behaviors of the people you observed in detail related to that concept. Describe any patterns in nonverbal behavior that you noticed related to that concept. Be sure to be thoughtful in your application of nonverbal concepts and include specific ideas and examples from your observation.

Part 3: Thoroughly explain your second chosen concept. In your explanation be sure to define the concept and provide a general example (not an example from what you watched) to help support your explanation. Describe any patterns in nonverbal behavior that you noticed related to that concept. about the nonverbal behavior of the person/people you wrote about.
