Use at least 1 short direct quote in this paragraph. Were rhetorical appeals used effectively in this article? Why/Why not? Did you see any logical fallacies? Which ones? Use at least 1 short direct quote in this paragraph. Did the article convince you of its claim? Why/why not? The response should be submitted in the text box. It should be at least 3 developed paragraphs long (1 paragraph per white bullet point–you may have more if you wish) and vetted for grammar (use Grammarly!). To see a successful assignment, read the Sample ResponseDownload Sample Response. Purpose In order to assess an argument, you have to understand its structure. In particular, it’s helpful to see how it uses the 3 rhetorical appeals: ethos, pathos, and logos. Not only will this allow you to respond to the argument more effectively, it will sharpen your argument skills and help you to use the rhetorical appeals in your own writing. Articulating how you feel about the argument will also improve critical thinking, as we often don’t know exactly what we think about an issue until we write down our thoughts. You’ll be responding to arguments all during Unit II, and this assignment will give you useful practice.
